Testimonials
Advanced Restorative Series
“After over 20 years in practice and tons of CE including six of
the courses at the Pankey Institute, I enrolled in the CARD series with
Dr. Steve Cutbirth. The CARD series is my best CE experience ever, with
efficient, in-depth, and logical presentation of each topic. The
courses are excellent preparation for enhancing one’s ability to
provide advanced restorative and cosmetic services to patients with
confidence and with systems designed to produce predictable results.
The CARD experience will empower you to achieve any level of
restorative, cosmetic, and pain management dentistry you desire to
provide in your practice.”
Jeff Kosoris, D.D.S., Waxahachie, Texas
“I have learned so much in the first two courses that it really has
changed my life and the ways I want to finish my days practicing
dentistry....I must comment on how impressive your knowledge is on all
these subjects. Your way with words is truly amazing. Your humility and
"good old boy" Texas charm serves you well."
Gene Allen, D.D.S., Prescott, Arizona
"I would recommend these series of courses to anyone wanting to
take their practice and their abilities to a level far above and beyond
what you think you are capable of doing.
I made the decision to take these courses because I wanted to
change the way I practice. I was tired of seeing 30 patients a day
doing one procedure on each one. I could not keep things straight in my
head going from patient to patient. Since taking the basic courses, the
advanced course and now into the Master’s courses, I have increased my
productivity by $15,000 to $20,000 a month but working on fewer
patients. I only see one or 2 patients every morning and have long
cases. We really accomplish things practicing this way. If it was not
for Steve Cutbirth and his style of teaching and these courses I would
not have been able to do this. I did not have the direction needed and
the tools needed and Steve provided me with these.
I recommend these courses highly. They have taught me new techniques that make dentistry easy, fun and predictable.
Thanks to Steve, Catherine and the rest of the Cutbirth family for
making the sacrifice to come to Dallas and give these courses. Thank
you for helping me become better dentist."
Sincerely,
Greg Ellis, D.D.S., F.A.G.D.
“I wanted to write and thank you for the wonderful learning
experience that you and your organization have provided for me and
other dentists. The education I have garnered from the continuums has
been practice-changing for me. Even after 23 years of practicing
dentistry, my confidence in my abilities as a dentist has dramatically
increased. I feel my dental skills and attitude are much better as I
have learned an improved way to practice. My production and collections
have increased drastically by applying the techniques learned at CARD.
I have developed a renewed enthusiasm for my profession. I feel lucky
to have been referred to you by one of your former students, and I will
not hesitate to recommend this great learning opportunity to any other
dentist. I look forward to the Masters Courses to take me and my
practice to an even higher level. Once again, thank you for sharing
your knowledge and experience."
Sincerely and respectfully,
Larry Rains, D.D.S., Wichita Falls, Texas
"Dr. Steven Cutbirth has provided for me an "extreme makeover" for
my attitude toward my profession of dentistry. Through five individual
courses over the span of one year, I have come to realize what
dentistry can provide in the way of contentment, prosperity and self
respect.
Dr. Cutbirth has a love and enthusiasm for dentistry that is no
less than contagious. He delivers a rock solid foundation of
time-tested technique and philosophy, with a dose of Texas charm. There
is no fluff, no ego and no guru demeanor. Just extremely helpful
knowledge to use on Monday morning.
He practices full time with the same challenges that we all have.
But he practices from a perspective of what is possible and life
enhancing for his patients. If you want to know what it means to be a
true professional, Dr. Cutbirth can show you. He is there for dentists
who want to be great, not just ok."
Eddie Pruitt, D.D.S., Houston, Texas
"It is rare in our profession to find a master technical dentist
who also possesses exemplary skills in practice systems that lead to
high profitability in a dental practice. Steve Cutbirth symbiotically
blends both areas to allow each attendee of this seminar to vastly
improve her/his level of success. I strongly recommend that dentists at
all stages of their practice attend this seminar."
Tom McDougal, D.D.S., Richardson, Texas
"We are fortunate to have in Dallas such an honest, humble,
supremely knowledgeable, kind, and "wet-gloved" practicing dentist
teaching this unique Cosmetic Dentistry course with the ever-important
emphasis on Occlusion and TMJ disorders. I highly recommend this
Continuum..."
Mark A. Venincasa, D.D.S., Dallas, Texas
"Dr. Cutbirth is an excellent teacher and does not waste time. I
enthusiastically give my highest recommendation for this total package
and learning experience."
Kelly Lucas, D.D.S., Wasilla, Alaska
"This Continuum has done wonders for my professional growth. In
addition to the extremely valuable clinical knowledge, I have gained
great confidence in taking on very difficult cases. The hands-on
experience made the information immediately applicable..."
Joey deGraffenried, D.D.S., Kilgore, Texas
"The keys to success were all discussed in this course, but the
main ingredient was the connection you make with the patient to find
the best way they want to be treated."
Deborah Sprott, D.D.S., Houston, Texas
"In my opinion, The Aesthetic Restorative Continuum is the best
kept secret in continuing education. After taking these courses, my
practice is a different place!"
Jerry Herrington, D.D.S., Conroe, Texas
"In one word - TERRIFIC! What makes this continuum different:
- The small class size encourages interaction.
- Dr. Cutbirth's straight forward approach and his willingness to share all his knowledge and experiences."
Michael W. Scott, D.D.S., Lubbock, Texas
"Dr. Steve Cutbirth's Continuum was a practical, useful and
enjoyable opportunity to review, experience and enhance my
understanding of the entirety of restorative procedures. His inclusion
of preparation techniques, incisal edge placement, centric relation and
TMJ were among many integrated topics to improve our practices."
Peter R. Barnett, D.M.D., Plano, Texas
"Dr. Cutbirth's series is a must for any dentist seeking a ‘top
tier’ practice. His courses really helped ‘fill in the gaps’ when it
comes to complex restorative cases, i.e., occlusion, changing vertical
and facial pain. If you seek excellence, as Steve most certainly does,
in the quality of your work and the way you run your office than I
highly recommend this continuum.”
Mark Sivley, D.D.S., Abilene, Texas
“Before taking the C.A.R.D. continuum I did not have a clear
understanding of how to establish anterior aesthetics and communicate
what I wanted. Also, I really did not know what to do with a patient
who had TMJ. I would usually refer them to a specialist expecting the
specialist to be the expert. After attending the continuum, I gained
new understanding. Steve Cutbirth taught me how to think like a doctor
of dentistry and not a tooth filler. His method of teaching along with
the hands-on part of the courses were very helpful. I can confidently
establish aesthetics and communicate what I want to my dental
technician. I finally understand TMJ and actually perform treatment
that really helps the patient. Thanks to Steve Cutbirth, I feel like I
can meet my patients’ needs whether they are great or small more
adequately.”
Derek Ford, D.D.S., Gentry, Arkansas
“I am a CE junkie having practiced for 24 years and taken thousands
of hours of CE. I resolved that if I picked up one pearl of information
the course was worthwhile. That all changed after attending Steve
Cutbirth’s courses. Dr. Cutbirth has a gift for organizing information
and for teaching. I have attended each course more than once because
there is so much useful content.”
Jimmie Brown, D.D.S., Temple, Texas
“I had a great experience coming to grips with a whole new way of
thinking in dentistry. I learned many techniques and lessons that were
valuable to me Monday morning.”
Asim Sundrani, D.D.S., Cypress, Texas
“To take your dentistry to the next level, this is the clearest and
most concise presentation of advanced aesthetic restorative studies
that you’ll find! I am now, confidently and successfully, doing the
dentistry that, just two years ago, I thought was relegated to ‘those
guys’ on the lecture circuit. Dr. Cutbirth is truly gifted in his
ability to demystify the seemingly daunting cases. In plain-spoken
language he is able to intelligently convey the ‘ESSENTIALS’ needed to
deliver you success!”
Darren K. Dickson, D.D.S., Plano, Texas
“I was very glad to find Steve Cutbirth’s series of courses where
you can get the ‘meat and potatoes’ of treating complex reconstruction
cases and TMD treatment without the cost and time involved in similar
programs. I highly recommend all of the CARD courses.”
Carlos Wiesse, D.D.S., Grand Prairie, Texas
Masters' Courses
“The Aesthetic Restorative Series at CARD had the most effect on me
and my practice than any other course I have taken in my 32 years of
practice. This was only surpassed by the Masters Courses the following
year.
The Masters Courses provides an intense, in depth, one-on-one
training in a group of only 12 doctors. The Aesthetic Restorative
Series provides the vision and direction of what you should be doing
for your patients, the Masters Courses provides you with every tool and
confidence to get it implemented. I can say with all confidence, that
without the Masters Courses, I would have only partially benefited.”
Ron Bosher, D.D.S., Garland, Texas
“Steve, you have been a tremendous blessing to me, my family and my
career. I am so appreciative that you followed your heart and vision to
create CARD.
When I began this journey of attaining advanced training in
Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry three years ago in the Series, I had no
idea it would have such a profound effect on the direction of my
career. The Series was just the beginning and the Masters Courses have
been the completion. It is nothing more than amazing to realize that I
am truly practicing at the highest level of my profession. My skill,
talent, communication ability and confidence have been remarkably
refined to the point that patients often are amazed to know I have been
practicing for only six years. It feels so great to provide only the
best and the finest dentistry and be richly rewarded for it. You have
been an amazing teacher and mentor and I am looking forward to
continuing to be your student.”
Jonathan James, D.D.S., Dallas, Texas
“Like many other dentists whom I know, I had worked very hard,
treated as many patients as the appointment book allowed, expecting to
make a good living and have a good life. In fact, I made more than I
expected; however, I often found myself TIRED and UNHAPPY at the end of
the day. My PASSION for dentistry was gone. To solve the problem, I
took many C.E. courses, just to find myself working harder, not
smarter.
Fortunately, I took the first course offered by Dr. Steve Cutbirth
and his wonderful staff. I was hooked from day one. The techniques,
skill and knowledge that I absorbed from Dr. Cutbirth's courses have
completely changed the way I practice dentistry. Thank you Dr.
Cutbirth, your family and your staff for bringing back the PASSION
which I thought I had lost forever.”
Tien Ngo, D.D.S., Dallas, Texas
“The Masters Courses are a gift to dentists who thirst for
excellence. It has been said that if you are going to belong to a yacht
club, somebody had better know how to sail a boat. If you want to be
the top in your field, come to the Masters Courses. There are people
all over the world looking for dentists who can predictably and
successfully restore mouths to function and beauty.
Dr. Cutbirth can show you step by step how to become one of these
dentists. The message is delivered in typical Cutbirth style, informal
and conversational. I sincerely believe that Dr. Cutbirth wants you to
have a life in dentistry uncommon to those comfortable with mediocrity.
He has spent 25 years compiling a base of knowledge that is invaluable.
He has distilled it and is willing to present it to you on a platter.
You owe it to yourself to go. It will change your life.”
Eddie Pruitt, D.D.S., Houston, Texas
“The Masters Courses have been a wonderful experience. I have been
able to build upon the foundation learned in the Advanced Restorative
Series. The small group setting gives the feel of a study club rather
than a lecture. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Cutbirth so
early in my career. I look forward to continuing on the path less
traveled.”
Micheal Scott, D.D.S., Lubbock, Texas
Picture Books
"The impact these books have had on my case presentation and
acceptance is very impressive. We have all head the saying 'A picture
is worth 1000 words' and these books are a perfect example. They have
helped my patients truly realize what modern dentistry has to offer and
visualize the possibilities of their complicated treatment. This has
vastly improved patient acceptance.
The quality of the photos is unsurpassed by any other books on the
market. In fact to call these mere books does not give them justice -
they are picture galleries of dentistry at its best - and worth every
penny of the purchase price."
Dr. Ron Bosher, D.D.S., Garland, Texas
"I have been doing porcelain ceramics for over thirty years. One of
the greatest tools needed to help technicians create porcelain
restorations is photography that closely replicates natural teeth. The
most inspiring and practical help is a book of pre-op and post-op
photography showing what is possible to achieve with close work between
exceptional esthetics-minded dentist like Dr. Steven T. Cutbirth, and
the top porcelain ceramists in the world. These are great books and
great tools that would be inspirational to all dental practices."
John S. Brown III, C.D.T., Waco, Texas
"In my experience, my patients best understand both their treatment
needs and options available through visual examples. Dr. Cutbirth's
photo books paired with quality intraoral photographs of the patient,
generates a dialogue where the patient can compare and contrast their
dental condition to examples provided in the book. Increased
understanding equals increased case acceptance."
R. David Brumbaugh, D.D.S., Dallas, Texas
"Dr. Cutbirth's books are easy to use, and easy for patients to
understand. The pictures describe the patients' conditions in a way
words cannot. By increasing my patient's dental understanding with Dr.
Cutbirth's books, I have increased my case acceptance and my practice
production."
Larry Chapman, D.D.S., Garland, Texas
"These are the picture books I have always wanted. It would take
many years to compile a volume of photographs like these. They are well
thought out, superbly produced and highly effective. They inform and
motivate patients more quickly than talk. We use them every day either
in the treatment room or in case presentation. They have paid for
themselves many times over in case acceptance!"
Jerry W. Herrington, D.D.S., Conroe, Texas
"Dr. Cutbirth's books are what my practice has been lacking for 35
years. When I saw the books for the first time, I knew they were the
tools I had been missing. My patients' skepticism, denial, reluctance
and procrastination have dramatically decreased with the use of Dr.
Cutbirth’s books. I consider myself a good communicator, but words mean
nothing to a patient who has no dental understanding."
Barbara McDaniel, D.D.S., Farmers Branch, Texas
"These 2 books - Dental Diagnosis and Aesthetic Restorative
Dentistry, by Dr. Steve Cutbirth are the best patient education
publications I have ever seen. Every dentist needs to invest in these
publication for the benefit of the patient and also to enhance
treatment acceptance."
Tom McDougal, D.D.S., Richardson, Texas
"Dr. Cutbirth's Photo Books are one-of-a-kind tools that have
tremendously increased my patients' understanding of their dental
conditions, in turn tremendously increasing my case acceptance."
Sassan Mouzoon, D.D.S., Poenix, Arizona
Darren Dickson
“I felt snake-bit before taking C.A.R.D. I was frustrated because I was not making what I thought to be a satisfactory living. I was not making a living commensurate with the amount of work and dedication that I was putting in. C.A.R.D. got me on track. Now I make a great living and work ‘human’ hours, as well as have a fulfilling life besides work.”
Darren Dickson, 38, from Plano, Texas heard about C.A.R.D. through Baylor College of Education. “Baylor sent out a mailer, and the dentist that I was buying my practice from said I had to take Dr. Cutbirth’s course if he was going to sell me his practice. He told me Steve Cutbirth is the guy to teach you how to do advanced, cosmetic, restorative dentistry; if you want to have a greater likelihood of success, take his courses.” Like Dr. Cutbirth, the dentist that sold Dr. Dickson his practice studied at the Pankey Institute. He knew of Dr. Cutbirth’s work and was very impressed with his complex, cosmetic and restorative dentistry. “I knew I wanted to practice dentistry in this same way, so I was highly motivated to take Dr. Cutbirth’s courses.
- Before I attended C.A.R.D., I was a provider for seven different insurance plans, and after about a year and a half in C.A.R.D., I whittled it down to three, and now I have no insurance plans at all.
- I used to have a much bigger workload, which made time management difficult. After adopting the C.A.R.D. philosophy of low volume, low overhead, and high productivity, the number of patients I see has drastically diminished and my revenue has risen substantially.”
- After attending C.A.R.D., Dr. Dickson’s practice has doubled in revenue in four years. Since then, it has increased ten percent from 2005 to 2006. “We are quickly approaching the 1,000,000 dollar mark which is really exciting.”
- When asked about his overhead, Dr. Dickson remarks, “Dr. Cutbirth was the spearhead to me restructuring my debt. Because of him, my overhead has gone down ten percent.
Before attending C.A.R.D., Dr. Dickson took many other continuing education courses. “The depth and intensity of the information that is presented at C.A.R.D. is so drastic. It is on so much more of a heightened level. C.A.R.D. is really incomparable to other courses that I have taken.
The one on one involvement, the hands on involvement, the didactic information presentation is completely different than other hands on seminars that I have attended. C.A.R.D. has been an indispensable part of my practice.
I would be ten steps behind where I am now if it wasn’t for C.A.R.D. Dr. Cutbirth strips it down and covers every aspect of your practice. I have seen the change immeasurably that C.A.R.D. has made for me.”
Micheal Scott
“Because of C.A.R.D., I now know how I want my practice to look, feel and function. There is no going back, but the road ahead is definitely less traveled. I will never forget Steve (Steve who?) saying ‘you want it to be hard. If it were easy then everybody could do it.’”
Micheal Scott, 33, from Lubbock, Texas signed up for C.A.R.D. because he wanted to gain more confidence with cosmetic and complex cases. After attending the C.A.R.D. courses, Dr. Scott said, “Increased confidence has been the most significant result from attending C.A.R.D. Now I have no problem with patients coming in with complex cases. I know what to do. I know how to diagnose the case and how to communicate it to them.”
Directly out of Dental School, Dr. Scott knew he wanted more complex and restorative training. Before discovering C.A.R.D., he went to other continuing education courses. Dr. Scott was frustrated; “I was not pleased with what I learned or the philosophy they instilled.” After receiving a brochure in the mail about C.A.R.D., Dr. Scott was interested, and called Dr. Cutbirth to learn more. “The course description appeared to be more of what I was looking for but I wanted to make sure. I still remember that call. Steve called me back and we probably talked for 15-20 minutes. I was impressed that he took the time to call me back and answer all my questions. I knew that Steve and C.A.R.D. would be what I was looking for.”
Five years ago, Micheal Scott started his practice from scratch. He is thankful that he learned the C.A.R.D. system and technique so early on in his career, thus preventing him from ever entering into a high volume practice.
When asked about his overall C.A.R.D. experience, Dr. Scott remarks, “C.A.R.D. has been a pivotal point in my career thus far. My patients, my team, my family and myself have all benefited because of my experiences at C.A.R.D.. The Masters courses allowed me to get together with a small group of dentists on the same “path” and share valuable experiences. I feel honored to be on the C.A.R.D. teaching faculty.”
Jonathan James
In 2003, 33 year old Jonathan James, from Dallas, Texas received a flyer about Dr. Cutbirth’s “Million Dollar Practice.” The next fall, Dr. James started the C.A.R.D. courses. “I was interested in obtaining my own million dollar practice and learning how to be one of the top producing dental practices in the nation, like Dr. Cutbirth. The first C.A.R.D. course I attended was the ‘systems’ course. Dr. Cutbirth showed cases he had completed and explained the way he ran his practice. I realized, ‘hey, I’m not doing that!’ I wanted to do his type of cases. Seeing the quality and complexity of dentistry that Dr. Cutbirth was doing, in addition to how he was running his practice made me want to learn the C.A.R.D. system.”
Dr. James began C.A.R.D. thinking the knowledge he would obtain would strictly be technical. “I got so much more than technical expertise. I wanted to be able to perform the highest quality of dentistry possible. Once I got into it, I also learned how to live a better life.” C.A.R.D.’s philosophy of low volume, low overhead, and high productivity influenced Dr. James to reevaluate the way he ran his practice. “The volume of patients that I see now, after attending C.A.R.D. is much smaller than before. I am doing more difficult and complex cases and I am able to look at things abstractly. C.A.R.D. gave me the technical skill and know-how to understand and treat complex cases. Before C.A.R.D., I was at a place where I knew what I was practicing was not ‘it.’ I kind of knew what I wanted, but at this point I was only three years out of dental school. I had just bought a practice and I knew that a high volume practice, going from operatory to operatory didn’t feel right to me, but I did not know how create a practice of low volume and high productivity. C.A.R.D. opened my eyes to the realization that it is possible to have a high profitable practice, seeing fewer patients, doing harder work but not working as much. The part of dentistry that I most enjoy is the creative side where I am challenged to use my mind. I get bored without a challenge. C.A.R.D. gave me the skills, technique and ability to solve tough cases. It gives me a great feeling.”
Dr. James has attended several other continuing education courses. He feels there is no comparison to C.A.R.D. “To me, C.A.R.D. is not a continuing education course. It’s an institute of higher learning. Other courses just touch on one piece of dentistry. C.A.R.D. is comprehensive and covers it all. If you go through all of the C.A.R.D. courses, you graduate feeling like you have a complete package with business, technical, and clinical skills. You leave C.A.R.D. with everything you need to take your practice to a whole new level, verses one little piece that another CE course might give you. I feel that the only way to do good dentistry is to be able to evaluate and analyze things comprehensively. Even if I don’t do a full mouth reconstruction on every patient, I understand how everything I do affects the system comprehensively. Confidence is one of the biggest things I have gotten from C.A.R.D. I stand behind everything Dr. Cutbirth has taught me. I believe in it, I practice it everyday and I have pictures to show that it works.”
“C.A.R.D. has been a blessing. Dr. Cutbirth’s life is an example to me. I believe without a shadow of a doubt that somebody upstairs knew what I needed and wanted, and sent C.A.R.D. my way. C.A.R.D. reminds me that I have the freedom to choose my life and the way that I want to practice. If you come out of C.A.R.D. and you really get it, you realize that you have the freedom to choose. And that, to me, is a life lesson period. Now, go make it happen.”
Eddie Pruitt
“Whenever I would hear Dr. Cutbirth’s name mentioned among my colleagues, I could always feel a sense of professional jealousy. Now, these dentists were fairly accomplished themselves, so I knew the mountaintop had to be in Waco. And I was right.” Dr. Eddie Pruitt, 52, from Houston, Texas, first heard about Dr. Cutbirth through friends with whom he had attended the Pankey Dental Institute. “I had received some mailings from Baylor about the C.A.R.D. courses, and once I put it together that this was ‘the guy’ my friends were so impressed with, I signed up. I wanted to compare notes to see how adequate my previous Continuing Education courses had been over the years and how a practice of Dr. Cutbirth’s quality was managed. I was curious to know how a guy with similar training could be so productive in a relatively small town like Waco. I knew Dr. Cutbirth was considered a ‘world-class dentist;’ I wanted to see how a supposedly world class dentist operated!”
Before completing the C.A.R.D. courses, Dr. Pruitt was seeing four or five patients a day, not including hygiene. For years he had been pursuing the less is more concept that Pankey promotes. “C.A.R.D. taught me how to schedule more productively. I now see one patient all morning, instead of two or three. My production has increased thirty percent since attending C.A.R.D. This is due partly to an increase in fees, but it is mainly due to adopting the C.A.R.D. new patient exam and consultation system. I don’t panic when the book is not full anymore. I understand now that being busy is not being productive. I think busyness is addictive and a lot of dentists are running ragged trying to be all things to all people. The C.A.R.D. philosophy of longer appointments on fewer patients is a much more efficient way to practice. Now I am working on complex cases, increasing my production, and decreasing my overhead.”
When asked if his confidence has been affected since attending C.A.R.D., Dr. Pruitt replied, “my confidence as a clinician has never been higher. When a person is immersed in a two year learning experience at the highest technical level, with like-minded dentists, one tends to try harder. When you try harder things turn out better. When things turn out as planned, confidence builds. C.A.R.D. is a system that works. I think too many dentists are letting dentistry beat them down because of lack of knowledge.”
The C.A.R.D. approach to dentistry has been very successful with Dr. Pruitt’s patients. “My patients of record are aware that I am not as willing to help them supervise their neglect. Some long time patients are now getting needed work done that they have put off for years. New patients are less of a challenge due to the C.A.R.D. approach to the new patient exam and consultation. Case acceptance is up and stressing patients about treatment is out!”
Dr. Pruitt explains that life in general has always been good; it’s dentistry that has always been a mixed bag. “When people ask me why I became a dentist I tell them because air traffic controller school was full! Seriously, dentistry will never be easy to those who want to be the best in their field. C.A.R.D. has shown me how to be more productive and it has expanded my technical knowledge immensely. Dentistry is hard. That’s exactly why it can be so lucrative. Things that are easy don’t pay much, if you haven’t noticed.”
Dr. Pruitt has taken several other Continuing Education courses. To him, none compare to C.A.R.D. “C.A.R.D. is like family. It is inspirational. It is fun! C.A.R.D. is informal and the courses are more conversational in format. All of us have an equal voice. We learn from each other. There is no judgment or competition going on. Egos are left at the door. Dr. Cutbirth brings current cases from his own practice. It’s comforting to know that your leader is home every day dealing with the same challenges as the rest of us. I think there are too many lecture-circuit gurus out there trying to recruit dentists to their courses so they can pay for their learning centers. C.A.R.D. is about being the best one can possibly be clinically.”
